Races lining up for selectman, School Committee in Clinton.

CLINTON -- Voters will have the chance to fill seats on two of the major boards when they enter the voting booth on June 9. There are contested races for both Board of Selectmen and School Committee.

Incumbent William Connolly Jr. is being challenged by John Martin for a three-year seat on the Board of Selectmen.

For the School Committee, two seats are up for grabs. Incumbents Joel Bates and Timothy Poynton are facing a challenge from Ed Devault for the two, three-year seats.

Candidates still have one more chance to get on the ballot. The annual caucus will be held on Friday, May 1, at 4 p.m., at Clinton Town Hall. The caucus will only be held if a minimum of 25 registered voters attend.

At this point, on the ballot are:

Moderator, one-year term (incumbent John Hogan);

Board of Selectmen, three-year term (Connolly and Martin);

Board of Assessors, three-year term (incumbent Tena Zapantis);

Board of Health, three-year term (incumbent Steve Lipka);

Library Trustees, two, three-year terms (incumbent Gloria Parkinson and newcomer Wendy Neil. Incumbent Nancy Starr is not running for re-election);

Parks and Recreation Commission, two, three-year terms (newcomers Carly Ciarletta and Joseph Repole. Incumbents Laura Biskaduros and Esteban Mendoza did not take out papers);

School Committee, two, three-year terms (Bates, Pynton and Devault);

Planning Board, five-year term (incumbent Nancy Moran);

Housing Authority, five-year term (incumbent Frederick Johnson).

Candidates will have until Wednesday, May 6, to withdraw from the ballot. The last day to register to vote is Tuesday, May 19.
