Race slur mayoress takes over.

Byline: By Wales on Sunday

A woman caught on video threatening to kill a neighbour will be made mayoress of a Welsh town today.

A recording posted on the popular website YouTube showed Dorothy Hutchinson being restrained by her councillor husband Robert as she screams "I'll kill her".

The footage was taken three years ago during a row between the couple, from Llantwit Major, and the owners of the pub next door, Pedro and Kerry Gemecho.

It refers to Mrs Hutchinson calling Mr Gemecho a Spanish b******.

Mrs Hutchinson, 65, received a police caution for racially aggravated harassment as a result.

This week, she explained: "I just lost my temper. When we bought the cottage all those years ago there was a car park next door, but it's been developed into a beer garden right on top of us. We don't sleep at night because of the noise."

Her husband, 68, said: "All she called him was a Spanish b******. How many times have I been called an English b******? You take no notice of it."

Of today's mayor-making ceremony, Mrs Hutchinson said: "We've made our minds up to go ahead with it. The whole town is not against us."
