RYOBI PROMOTES TWO KEY EXECUTIVES; COMPLETES INTERNAL REORGANIZATION

EASLEY, S.C., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Ryobi North America (RNA) today announced two key promotions and a realignment of staff functions at three of its group companies.
The changes complete a process begun in May at Ryobi Motor Products, and have the practical effect of organizing RNA's management structure by function instead of by corporate unit.
RNA Chairman and President Dr. Akio Urakami said the changes are designed to enhance operational efficiency and increase responsiveness to Ryobi customers. "The staff changes we are making today," Urakami said, "are the result of a careful three-month study we undertook to improve the way the Ryobi Group of companies relate to one another and the way they respond to the needs of our customers. They are part of our ongoing effort to find better ways to do business and to position the Ryobi Group for continued growth as we move into the future."
The most significant change announced today was the promotion of Robert L. Goucher to senior vice president of operations for RNA, based in Easley. In this new position, Goucher will have overall responsibility for the product design and manufacturing operations of Ryobi's power tool, outdoor power equipment and floor care businesses.
With his promotion, Goucher will assume new responsibilities as executive vice president and chief operating officer of both Ryobi Motor Products and Ryobi Electric Tool Manufacturing. He will retain his current positions of president of Ryobi Outdoor Products and vice president of Ryobi Concepts International, both located in Chandler, Ariz.
The second promotion announced today advanced William L. Beever to senior vice president and chief financial officer for RNA. Beever will retain his current positions as vice president and secretary/treasurer of Ryobi Motor Products and vice president and secretary/treasurer of Ryobi Electric Tool Manufacturing.
In addition to the promotions of Goucher and Beever, the following realignments were announced today.
To emphasize the significance of Ryobi's commitment to its relationship with Sears, James R. Bartell has been named to the newly created position of director of Sears Marketing for RNA. Bartell will retain his current position as vice president and general manager of the Pickens Division of Ryobi Motor Products.
William S. McLay Jr. retains his positions as senior vice president of marketing and sales for RNA and as president and chief executive officer of Ryobi America, based in Anderson, S.C. He has also been given new responsibilities in the areas of international business development and Singer Floor Care marketing. As a result, all Ryobi Group product marketing, except for Sears marketing, will now have unified direction under McLay.
In the final staff change announced today, Thomas W. Fant will assume the new position of vice president of materials engineering for RNA. Fant will remain president and chief executive officer of Ryobi Die Casting, located in Shelbyville, Ind.
Ryobi North America, based in Easley, employs 3,500 people at its facilities in Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, South Carolina and Canada. These facilities produce power tools, outdoor power equipment, builders' hardware, floor care products and sporting goods.
