RYDER TOP EXECUTIVES TOUR UNITED WAY AGENCIES FOR CLOSE UP LOOK AT PEOPLE AND PROGRAMS

    WHAT:    Led by Chairman Tony Burns, members of Ryder's executive
             committee will tour selected United Way agencies to witness
             firsthand the company's contributions at work, and
             participate in agency activities.
    WHEN:    Monday, Aug. 16
    WHERE:   The group will travel via chartered bus from Ryder System
             executive offices at 3600 NW 82nd Ave., beginning at 11
             a.m., and stop at three separate agencies before returning
             to Ryder around mid-afternoon.
             The tour will include stops at:
             -- The Salvation Army Womens and Childrens Shelter, 1398 SW
                First Street, Miami from 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m.  Committee
                members will help serve lunch and dine with shelter
                clients.
             -- Dade Marine Institute, 4400-A Rickenbacker Causeway, Key
                Biscayne a juvenile first offenders rehabilitation
                program, from 1:30-2:30 p.m.  Committee will tour
                the facility and observe curriculum activities and
                programs.
             -- Parent Resource Center Crisis Nursery, 3201 SW 29th
                Street, Miami, serving abused and abandoned children.
                Committee members will interact with agency staff and
                read stories to the children.
    DETAILS: As a Pacesetter company, and largest single corporate
             contributor to the annual United Way campaign, Ryder will
             provide in excess of $1.1 million dollars to the 1993 fund
             raising effort.  In advance of this year's campaign
             kickoff, company executives and employees have an
             opportunity to visit some of the 70 agencies which provide
             services to one in three residents in Dade County and view
             firsthand United Way dollars at work.
