RYDER SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH PEPSI'S PUERTO RICO BOTTLER

 MIAMI, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- A subsidiary of Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R) has signed an agreement with the Pepsi-Cola Puerto Rico Bottling Company to provide transportation services for its fleet of 214 vehicles, it was announced by M. Anthony Burns, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ryder System.
 Ryder will provide Pepsi with 153 vehicles under a full service lease agreement, and will provide programmed maintenance for 61 other Pepsi vehicles under a maintenance contract. The agreement also calls for Ryder to assume the operations and staffing of Pepsi Puerto Rico's San Juan maintenance shop.
 "This is one of a growing number of requests from Ryder's domestic customers and prospects to provide similar services in off-shore markets," said Dwight D. Denny, Ryder's president -- commercial leasing and services. "We regard these requests as a strong vote of confidence and an opportunity to grow with our customers as they expand globally."
 This will be Ryder's first operation in the Caribbean market said Denny. Ryder is the world's largest commercial truck rental and full service truck leasing company with operations in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and a small operation in Germany.
