RYAN-MURPHY REPORTS FISCAL 1993 FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

RYAN-MURPHY REPORTS FISCAL 1993 FIRST QUARTER RESULTS
 DENVER, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Ryan-Murphy Inc. (NASDAQ: RMII)

today announced a 43 percent increase in total revenues for its first quarter ended April 30, 1992, as compared to the first quarter of the previous fiscal year.
Revenues were up $707,000 to $2.3 million for the three month period ended April 30, 1992, compared to $1.6 million for the company's fiscal 1992 first quarter. First quarter earnings are typically lower due to seasonal fluctuations and the client's capital spending constraints during the quarter. As a result, Ryan-Murphy reported a net loss for the period of $240,000 or $.016 per share, compared to a loss of $379,000 for the first quarter of fiscal 1992, an improvement of $139,000.
Ryan-Murphy specializes in the cleanup of petroleum contaminated soil and the removal and decommissioning of underground storage tanks. Its proprietary mobile soil treatment unit, known as the "Good Earth Machine," fueled Ryan-Murphy's first quarter growth, accounting for 33 percent of sales.
During the quarter ended April 30, 1992, Ryan-Murphy completed a public offering of 3 million shares of common stock with warrants for approximately $1.9 million, resulting in proceeds to the company of approximately $1.5 million. These funds were used for the acquisition of the "Good Earth Machine" (GEM) patent from the vice president of the GEM Division, the purchase of additional equipment, debt service payments and operating expenses.
Ryan-Murphy's balance sheet continued to show improvement throughout the quarter with the reduction of accounts payable by $296,000 or 15 percent and long-term debt by $113,836 or 19 percent compared to year end. Net contracts and notes receivable increased by $97,000, while shareholders' equity was boosted $1.9 million during the quarter, largely as a result of the public offering.
The quarter also saw the opening of two new sales offices -- one in Houston, and the other in Londonderry, N.H. These offices are expected to have a major impact on Ryan-Murphy's soil remediation activities involving the GEM units.
"With a major increase in our backlog of contracts and bidding activity, we are looking for a greatly improved second quarter and a positive earnings outlook for the remainder of the year," said Ryan-Murphy President Bob Jennings.
Ryan-Murphy is headquartered in Denver with regional offices in Houston; Londonderry; Los Angeles and Corona, Calif. The company offers a total package of environmental remediation services for petroleum-contaminated soil and the removal of underground storage tanks, as well as the design and installation of fuel dispensing systems nationwide.
