RYAN MIGHTY; YOUR TV It's time for Late Late Tubs to show he's.. MUST SEE.

Byline: SAMUEL HAMILTON

The Late Late Show Friday, 9.35pm, RTE One THE nights are getting colder and darker - so it must mean it's time for Ryan Tubridy to make his triumphant return to the box.

This year, the lanky host has pledged to leave his mark on the Late Late Show, but I wouldn't hold out any hope.

Instead, the longest-running chat show in the world will be back to what it does best, conducting live love-ins with celebrities on our dime. The hard questions? There's no real need for them here. But admittedly, sometimes you do want that on a Friday night - just not all the time.

Obviously, Tubs has mellowed from his much complained about scatter gun attempt at an interview with Brian Cowen.

But personally I'm hoping his stint in the BBC has left him with a touch of stress sitting on his shoulder. Because when Ryan is good, he's amazing. He does have the ability to relate with people and bring out the information people want to know - it just seems as if he's too easily pleased with the dullest of revelations.

This isn't me giving out, because I actually really like Tubridy. His radio show in particular, back when it was in its right place on Radio One, was a touch of class most mornings.

I'm just hoping that this season of the Late Late Show can prove me - and much of the public wrong - with a series of highoctane, powerful, much talked about interviews.
