EGL (Energie des grands lacs), Gisenyi released general procurement notice (GPN) for improvement works to the access road to the Ruzizi III dam sites.

Scope of the work will be improvement works to the access road to the Ruzizi III dam and plant site between Bugarama/Kamanyola and Rukoko.

The contract includes the construction of a road surface using selected natural materials with a rainwater drainage system, supporting and protective walls with gabions and masonry, 2 metal bridges and protection of rock fill embankments.

The contract provides for site installations, preparatory works, earth moving work: 2 700 linear metres of drainage ditches, 84 896 m3 of embankments and 92 400 m3 of excavated earth, construction of road layers using selected natural materials (18 760 m3), construction of longitudinal (8 900 linear metres) and trans versal (234 linear metres) drainage structures, construction of supporting and protective walls with masonry: 90 linear metres, 5 m high, with 2 360 m3 of gabionage and 432 m3 of rock fill, site refurbishment works, re vegetation and tree planting, construction of 65 linear metres of metal bridges and of a 4 x 2,5 double box culvert.

The work will not be divided into lots. Intended date for publication of procurement notice is May 2011. EGL is the contracting authority for the invitation to tender procedures, the National Authorizing Officers of the 2 countries remain the contracting authority for further management procedures for the works contract. There must be a minimum period of 30 calendar days between the publication of this contract forecast and the publication of the corresponding procurement notice.
