RUTHLESS LANCS AT IT AGAIN.
Kyle Hogg grabbed career-best figures of 7-27 against the Division Two leaders on day one of their County Championship clash at Old Trafford.
After skittling Essex for a record-low 20 at Chelmsford last week, Red Rose duo Kyle Hogg and Glen Chapple (3-34) bowled all 29.5 overs as they ripped through Northants.
Chapple had begun the rout as Kyle Coetzer was caught by Andrea Agathangelou at second slip off just the fourth ball of the day.
But it was Hogg who took centre-stage. In the very next over he trapped David Sales lbw, before repeating the trick with Alex Wakely. At that point Northants were 9-3.
Rob Keogh, Andrew Hall, David Willey, Muhammad Azharullah and Steven Crook - who top-scored with 16 - followed.
Northants hit back as the wickets continued to tumble. Simon Katich's 30 was the high point for Lancs as they limped to 121-8, a lead of 59. Bad light forced play to be abandoned with 15.3 overs left in the day.
SEVEN HEAVEN Kyle Hogg destroyed Northants
