 RUSSIAN MERCHANDISE MART TO OPEN;
 U.S. CONCERN ANNOUNCES BULK SALE OF RUSSIAN-MADE CONSUMER GOODS
 BOSTON, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Bosmosco, Inc., which will open a Russian Merchandise Mart on May 1, announced today that it has already made its first sale -- nearly $500,000 worth of Russian-made consumer goods.
 Bosmosco President Henry Quinlan said the Russian Merchandise Mart initially will feature goods from 75 Russian companies and that plans call for expansion of the permanent wholesale expo to include some 200 consumer and industrial goods and raw materials companies. He said that "both the quality of the products and the U.S. demand that exists for them are extremely high."
 Quinlan said that Bosmosco has signed a contract worth nearly $500,000 with Sostec Holding, Ltd. of Novorossiysk, Russia, to acquire a variety of products ranging from craft foods to furs. Bosmosco has already placed the goods with individual variety and department stores in the New England region. The products are manufactured by a diverse group of Russian enterprises which sell through Sostec Holding.
 Harold Davis, a Boston lawyer who represents Sostec, said that the "company's early enthusiasm for the Russian Mart concept has been reinforced by this early sale. We're proud also to be part of what we consider to be the only solution to the Russian economic crisis -- the encouragement of grass roots entrepreneurial activities designed to foster capitalism among the people of the former U.S.S.R."
 Quinlan said that "four years of living and working in what is now called the Commonwealth of Independent States (C.I.S.) has proven to me that 'free enterprise' is a popular, not a national movement. Our Russian Mart is consistent with that philosophy, allowing even the smallest Russian enterprise to participate in the process."
 The Russian Merchandise Mart is the U.S. counterpart of Bosmosco's American Store which has been operating successfully in Moscow for a year, featuring wholesale U.S.-made goods available for hard currency. Other C.I.S. activities of Bosmosco include specialty wholesale and retail stores featuring sporting goods, medical supplies, building materials, etc.
