RUSSIAN BANKERS TO TOUR BANKATLANTIC'S DATA CENTER THURSDAY

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Twenty bankers from the Republic of Russia will on Thursday, June 3, tour BankAtlantic's data-processing operations center located at 1771 NW 40th Ave. (State Road 441) in Lauderhill. The visiting bankers will tour the Operations Center from 2:15 p.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m., and will be welcomed by Gerald S. Watson, BankAtlantic's executive vice president for operations. Thursday's visit is the result of cooperation between BankAtlantic and The University of Miami, which hosts the one-week seminar on international banking.
"We're excited to have this opportunity to provide our technical expertise -- and moral support -- to our fellow bankers from the Republic of Russia. The transition of Russia to a free-enterprise, market economy requires the rapid development of a safe and efficient banking system, and BankAtlantic wants to help," Watson commented. "We are pleased to assist the University of Miami's International Banking seminar by providing an opportunity for participants to experience a state-of-the-art operations center that processes thousands of banking transactions each day, and to informally exchange ideas with BankAtlantic managers and data processing professionals," Watson added.
News media are invited to send reporters and/or photographers/camera crews to cover the operations center visit and to interview participants. For further information contact David Finkelman, BankAtlantic, 305-760-5401; or Professor Ben Recarey, University of Miami, 305-284-6868.
Travel directions: Exit I-95 at Sunrise Boulevard and drive west to State Road 441. Turn north on SR441. BankAtlantic's Operations Center is approximately 1/4 mile ahead on the left (west) side.
