RUSSIA - Apr. 26 - Mubarak Visits.

Egyptian Pres. Mubarak leading a delegation of senior Egyptian ministers arrives in Moscow for a 3-day visit. (Moscow is Mubarak's final stop on a tour that has already taken him to Germany and Romania). On Apr. 27, he met Pres. Putin at the Kremlin. They signed the memorandum of mutual understanding, trust, friendship and co-operation. They agreed to encourage investments and co-operate in science, technology, nuclear energy and space. Officials said the nuclear co-operation would be limited to civilian use. Another projects discussed were the joint production of the TU 204-120 aircraft in Egypt and Russian training and operation of the electronic accelerator Cairo purchased from Moscow. The accelerator produces radioactive isotopes. Egyptian Electricity Minister Ali Saidi stressed that Cairo does not plan to launch a nuclear weapons program. Mubarak left Moscow on Apr. 28.
