RUGBY UNION: Midland clubs.

Midland clubs have been given permission to postpone league matches scheduled to be played this Saturday so they can watch the World Cup final between England and Australia on television.

Clubs with distances to travel were afraid that they might miss the match but the RFU have given league secretaries across the region permission to allow postponements.

David Robins, the chairman of the Midlands Leagues' Organising Committee, said:' Permission to postpone matches must be made to the individual league secretaries. If both clubs are in agreement the matches will be postponed. If there is not agreement from both clubs the matches must go ahead as planned this Saturday.'
