 RTD TO SUSPEND ALL BUS SERVICE AT 6 P.M.;
 STARTUP TIMES TO BE ANNOUNCED
 LOS ANGELES, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- All RTD bus and train lines will cease operations at sundown today (Thursday) in consideration of passenger and employee safety, announced RTD General Manager Alan F. Pegg.
 After conferring with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), RTD transportation officials decided to suspend all bus and train service to encourage its riders to stay safely in their homes.
 Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley has ordered a sundown to sunrise curfew in the city of Los Angeles.
 "Anyone who must use RTD buses should get to their bus stops no later than 6 p.m. tonight," Pegg said. "All district buses will be pulled off the street after 6 p.m. Unfortunately, we are having to curtail some of our service in other dangerous areas as well. However, we will do everything in our power to continue to run the buses."
 Blue Line train service has been halted from downtown Los Angeles. The district is operating buses from Metro Center Station at 7th and Figueroa streets to Washington Boulevard Station where patrons may board a southbound train.
 The last bus to leave the Metro Center Station will be at 6:45 p.m. The last train to leave the Washington Station southbound will be approximately 7:05 p.m. The last northbound train from Long Beach is scheduled to depart at 5:30 p.m.
 "Once again, we ask for the understanding and patience of the vast majority of innocent people who are being negatively affected by the actions of a destructive few," Pegg said.
 "We will continue to stay on top of the situation minute by minute. As soon as it is feasible and safe to return bus service to the street, we will do so."
 Pegg added that all RTD operators and maintenance workers are asked to report to their scheduled assignments Friday morning.
 RTD has not operated bus service in the "curfew area" imposed by the LAPD in South Central Los Angeles since 9 p.m., Wednesday. No bus service is scheduled for the area until law enforcement agencies deem the situation controlled.
