RTA number plate auction raises Dhs27 million.

A live auction of cherished registration numbers by the RTA raised a massive Dhs27.09million as 274 took part in the bidding.

The sale was the 76th live auction held by the licensing agency of the RTA and featured 125 plates with two, three, four and five-digit plates.

Licensing director, Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nimaat said: "The auction saw positive bidding among participants whose enthusiasm transformed the auction hall into an action-packed venue."

The highest-earning plate was J14 which fetched Dhs2.12million, followed by K24 which raised Dhs1.4million.

Three-digit plates were fiercely contested with G777 reaching Dhs870,000; G7777, Dhs505,000 and the five-digit plate K55555 making Dhs800,000.

The next sale will be held in September.
