RTA'S CENTER CITY LOOP SERVICE WILL RUN SATURDAYS THRU. DEC. 21
CLEVELAND, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- RTA's new Center City Loop Service downtown will run Saturdays thru Dec. 21.
"This extra Saturday loop service will be operated from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. to provide a direct service link for holiday shoppers with the retail establishments downtown," said RTA General Manager Ron Tober.
"Traditionally, the Saturdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas are among the busiest shopping days of the year for downtown establishments," said Tober. "And, with the possibility of inclement weather at this time of the year, we wanted to make sure passengers would be able to comfortably travel throughout the downtown shopping area efficiently and economically."
RTA's new Center City Loop -- which only costs 35 cents per ride -- serves the central downtown area from Public Square to E. 13th and Lakeside. It connects Tower City Center with Erieview, the Galleria, Federal Building, State Office Building, the arcades along Euclid Avenue and locations along E. 9th St. between Euclid and Lakeside Avenues.
The Center City Loop and new Outer Loop for areas northeast of Public Square are served by RTA's new fleet of 30-foot wheelchair-accessible buses. Featuring perimeter seating (all seats face the center aisle), the all-new coaches are fueled by compressed natural gas to provide for a cleaner environment. RTA's fleet of 20 natural gas buses is the largest operating fleet in the U.S.
To make getting around downtown even more convenient, RTA's new Easy Ride Zone is in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This new system allows a customer to ride any bus in the downtown area within the specified zone for only 35 cents.
Passengers paying the 35-cent Easy Ride Zone fare are allowed to make one transfer, good for travel on a second bus within the zone. This transferring must be done within a 15-minute period.
For those who decide to transfer and travel beyond the Easy Ride Zone, they will have to pay the difference between the 35 cents and the regular fare (an additional 65 cents on a local bus or 90 cents on an express bus or rapid).
The Easy Ride Zone boundaries are Lake Erie to the north; the Lorain Carnegie Bridge and Broadway to the south; part of W. 25th and W. 28th streets to the west; and East 30th St. to the east.
Passengers can get more information on the new Loop system and Easy Ride Zone by calling the RTAnswerline at, 216-621-9500.
