RPIE's due Oct. 1!

Real Property Income and Expense forms are due Tuesday, Oct. 1, said tax certiorari attorney, Eric S. Weiss. The Department of Finance extended this year's filing date, he said, to give owners and opportunity to complete the forms of "Agreements To Us The 1991 Tax Commission Income And Expense Statement," which were distributed late in the summer.

Weiss recommends that if a 1990 Income and Expense Statement was filed with the Tax Commission, that the "Agreement To Use The 1991 Tax Commission Income and Expense Statement" should be used. However, if only 1989 numbers were field with the Tax Commission, he would recommend the most recent operating statement be filed. He makes these recommendations since Department of Finance officials have said that without the most up-to-date figures, they will assume recent income is greater, and adjust the figures to reflect that scenario themselves.

Weiss is the chairman of the sub-committee on Local Law 63 (which created the RPIE filings) of the Condemnations and Tax Certiorari Committee of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
