RPI ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GROUP: AMAZING PERSONAL SIMULATOR/VIRTUAL REALITY TECHNOLOGY HAS BI-COASTAL CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW PREMIERE

SAN FRANCISCO, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Desktop-simulation leader RPI Advanced Technology Group is first out of the gate with delivery of a visor system for "virtual reality" telecommunications, tele-gaming and design applications.
RPI's Head Mounted Sensory Interface (HMSI)(TM) for simulation, visualization and immersive interactive media applications provides stereoscopic color images, spatial sound and voice command in one integral device. The HMSI responds to the sociological need to become emotionally involved with the working or entertainment environment. The total weight of the streamlined HMSI, approximately three oz., allows the user essential comfort levels even when used for extended periods of time. The HMSI can be operated in a heads-up fashion, where the user can be involved in both a virtual world and the real world at the same time, or fully immersive, allowing the operator the enjoyment of a completely interactive virtual world. The HMSI allows a user to see any combination of computer-generated graphics and remote video images, all in true stereoscopic, three-dimensional (3D) form. The HMSI fills a critical need of the visualization industry by providing an ergonomic product with such capabilities. The device is like a flight simulator built into a pair of large glasses. Users of the HMSI also are able to interact with the environment, rather than simply perceiving what they see and hear. The light-weight visor is also much more user friendly and safer than cumbersome helmets or goggles. RPI holds the domestic intellectual property exclusive on such devices and will announce dramatic patent details shortly. Future enhancements include wireless mode, biodata processing, reduced price, gesture sensors and other capabilities.
The HMSI is specifically designed to operate with all major software applications. Supported hardware interfaces include those of Nintendo, 3DO, AT&T, US Sprint, IBM, SGI, Sega and other industry majors. Additionally the modular design of the product allows users to take advantage of future upgrades rather than replacing the entire unit. Available at $6,000 from Magellan Marketing Inc., 32969 Hamilton Ct., Suite 215, Farmington Hills, MI 48334, attn: Robin Nichols.
