3-year-old dies after hit by van in Caloocan

A three-year-old girl died after being hit by a van in Caloocan City Wednesday afternoon.

Police identified the girl as Michelle Nogalisa, resident of Franville 2 Subdivision, Barangay 175, Camarin, Caloocan.

The initial police report showed that the girl, who was playing with other kids along the two-way Franville Road, was hit by the front portion of the Toyota Hi-Ace van used as UV Express shuttle as it headed towards Quirino Highway at around 2:45 p.m on June 19.

The driver of the van was identified as Jorge Tacugue, 31, and resident of Laforteza Subdivision, Camarin.

The girl reportedly sustained severe injuries following the accident and was brought by her parents to Nodado Hospital, a kilometer away from Franville Road, but was declared dead on arrival at around 2:52 p.m.

She was then brought to Crime Laboratory Office - Camp Crame, Quezon City for autopsy, police said.

Meanwhile, the driver is now under police custody and had been charged with Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide, police added. (Dylan Afuang)

Three men nabbed in buy-bust op

Three members of different criminal gang were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by police in Sta. Ana, Manila on Wednesday.

The police identified the suspects as Roberto Martin, 59, single, jobless, member of Commando gang, Ariel Polancos, 32, member of Sputnik gang and Angel Amantillo, 23, member of Bahala gang--all residents of Manila.

Investigation showed operatives of Sta. Ana Police Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a Simultaneous Anti- Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) and buy-bust operation against the suspects along Oro B. Street, Sta. Ana, Manila at around 3:00 p.m. on June 19.

Seized from them were sachets of shabu weighing 27 grams with an estimated value of P184,000, one weighing scale, a pair of scissors and pieces of empty sachets.

They were temporarily detained at the station's custodial facility for booking and documentation.

Appropriate charges will be filed against them for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Erma Edera)

P476,000 worth of illegal drugs seized in buy-bust op, Three suspects arrested

Nearly half a million pesos worth of shabu was seized from three drug suspects during a buy-bust in Quezon City on Wednesday night.

Quezon City Police Station 5 (PS-5) commander, Lt. Col. Benjamin Gabriel, identified the suspects as Kamim Sharif, 28, Mangopia Panod, 56, and Ricardo Alquicer, 28.

It appears that Alquicer was included in the drug list of the police while Sharif and Panod were newly-identified drug personalities.

According to Gabriel, the suspects were known in peddling drugs in Quezon City and in Marikina City.

Members of PS-5 Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a drug sting against the three men at Camaro Street in Barangay Greater Fairview around 10:10 p.m.

An undercover police officer transacted with the group while inside the suspects' black Hyundai Accent and purchased P10,000 worth of illegal drugs from them.

After the deal, responding officers immediately arrested the three men who yielded around 70 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P476,000.

Arrested suspects are now under police custody and were charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Alexandria San Juan)

P220,000 worth of shabu confiscated from four suspects in Navotas

Police seized at least P220,000 worth of suspected shabu from four alleged drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in Navotas City on Tuesday morning.

In a belated report obtained from the Navotas City Police, the arrested suspects were identified as Michael Bonzon, 47, fisherman; John Paolo Cubos, 21, fisherman; Jojo delos Reyes, 24, fisherman; and Marissa de Guzman, 39, jobless.

P/Col. Rolando Balasabas, city police chief, said that members of the station Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a sting against the four in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North, Navotas City at around 2:30 a.m.

After the transaction with a police poseur buyer, the suspects were immediately arrested and yielded 14 sachets of suspected shabu weighing at least 60 grams.

Balasabas said the recovered illegal drugs have a total street value of P228,000.

Worker falls to his death in QC

A 32-year-old worker died after accidentally falling from a portion of a Skyway under construction along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City early Thursday.

Investigators from Quezon City Police Station 1 identified the victim as Carlito Corpuz, 32, who was working as a steel man of the Skyway Stage 3.

It appears that the victim was last seen alive by his co-worker, Char Noveno, around 12 a.m. when the latter went to rest inside their barracks.

Meanwhile, at about 5:10 a.m., another co-worker of the victim, said he was preparing for work and went to a store to buy a coffee when he saw Corpuz' body already on the pavement with blood flowing from his head.

The witness immediately reported the incident to the police who are now conducting follow-up investigation. (Alexandria San Juan)

Man wanted by police for murder nabbed in Malabon

A man who went into hiding after allegedly killing the owner of the house he was renting was arrested by police in Malabon City on Wednesday afternoon.

P/Col. Jessie Tamayao, Malabon City police chief, identified the suspect as Resty Siatrez, 46, a construction worker.

Siatrez had been wanted by authorities since 2017, police said.

The suspect allegedly shot dead the owner of the house he was renting during a confrontation after the latter reported him to the police for not paying his monthly rental fee, police added.

Investigation showed that the police were able to arrest Siatrez at his house in Barangay Hulong Duhat, Malabon at around 1:50 p.m. after they got a tip about his whereabouts.

Malabon City Regional Trial Court Branch 74 Judge Celso Magsino issued the warrant against Siatrez for murder, police said.

The suspect is now under police custody for proper disposition. (Joseph Almer Pedrajas)
