ROUNDBOOK PUBLISHING GROUP, KARDANA PRODUCTIONS AND PETE TOWNSHEND TO PUBLISH 'TOMMY' INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA CD-ROM TITLE

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- RoundBook Publishing Group, Inc., an interactive multimedia publisher, announced today an agreement with Kardana Productions, co-producer of the all-time best selling Broadway musical, "The Who's Tommy," and Pete Townshend, rock & roll legend, originator and creative force behind "Tommy" for over 25 years.
The new team will collaborate on a comprehensive multimedia exploration of the "Tommy" phenomenon in all its forms, from Pete's original compositions and recordings, including the now legendary sunrise performance of "Tommy" in 1969 at Woodstock, to the current 1993 Tony award-winning Broadway musical.
PETE TOWNSHEND JOINS ROUNDBOOK AS CORPORATE ADVISOR; KARDANA AND
TOWNSHEND TO BECOME INVESTORS IN ROUNDBOOK
"Pete's creative works and insights have been the driving force behind every version of `Tommy' and the CD-ROM will be no different," said Greg Smith, president of RoundBook, who went on to say that Pete Townshend also accepted an offer to become a corporate advisor and consultant on a number of unannounced interactive projects. In addition, Mr. Smith announced that both Kardana Productions and Townshend are to become equity investors in RoundBook. Terms were not disclosed.
According to Smith, after numerous faxes and phone conversations, the initial face-to-face meeting with both Townshend and Kardana's president and CEO, John Hart, turned into a three-hour brainstorming session on their joint project.
"The chemistry was perfect," Hart commented. "Today's announcement is indicative of that. I knew Pete wanted to do a multimedia project based on 'Tommy.' After a long selection process, we determined that Greg's company was capable of providing the working relationship to launch the interactive version."
Pete Townshend added, "The Broadway production proved that there was an audience in the '90s for the themes of 'Tommy.' They called me revolutionary when I first released it. I guess I'm evolutionary too. The CD-ROM will offer an even wider audience access to this work. We'll let the audience be the ultimate critics."
In addition to Townshend's Tony for "Best Original Score," the Broadway production won four others including Best Director, Best Choreography, Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting.
 COMPTON'S NEWMEDIA EXPECTS ENTHUSIASTIC RESPONSE
Compton's NewMedia, a leading provider of information, education and entertainment software in the CD-ROM industry, will distribute the "Tommy" CD-ROM to more than 5,000 retail outlets beginning this fall. Norm Bastin, executive vice president and general manager of Compton's, expects an enthusiastic response to the "Tommy" CD-ROM from retailers and consumers alike.
The "Tommy" CD-ROM will be published initially for the Windows and Macintosh platforms. Retail shipments are slated to begin in September 1994.
