ROSS SYSTEMS TO SELL ORACLE'S DATABASE WITH PROVEN APPLICATIONS FOR GLOBAL BUSINESS

Database Combines with Ross Applications to Provide Customers
 With Total Solution
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- In a recently signed agreement, Ross Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: ROSS) is now a member of Oracle Corporation's Business Alliance Program and a relicensor of Oracle's database offering, ORACLE7.
Ross offers a wide range of application software for global business, including the PROMIX(TM) process manufacturing system, which has sold well in North America since its introduction last year; the Renaissance CS(TM) Financial Series, the company's entry into the client/server arena; and GEMBASE(TM), Ross's fourth generation application development environment. The company's customer base includes more than 2,000 companies and organizations worldwide.
Ross's strategic focus on the open systems arena, as well as the company's commitment to client/server, prompted the affiliation with Oracle, a company which Forrester Research recently called one of only two "engines of choice for client/server." Large companies, like Ross's customers, "are embracing server databases much faster than they expected to even one year ago," according to Forrester.
"Adding a database offering as strong as Oracle's to our product line strengthens our position in the market and solidifies our commitment to open systems," said Dennis Vohs, Ross's chairman and CEO. "Many of our customers have asked us to add Oracle's database to our offering, and we are happy to be working with such a proven company."
"Ross Systems' range of global applications will provide Oracle customers with the advantages of widely accepted applications running in a client/server environment," said Richard N. Doerr, vice president of U.S. Indirect Channels for Oracle Corporation. "We are pleased to be working with Ross, and look forward to a strong business alliance between our two companies."
Ross Systems, Inc. recently introduced the Renaissance CS Series, a suite of tightly integrated financial products built on a relational database and designed for client/server processing in an open systems environment. Today, Ross Systems develops and markets a broad range of business solutions in the following open systems environments: Digital's Alpha AXP architecture, Open VMS and OSF/1; Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX and MPE/iX; and client server. Ross products encompass financial, human resources and distribution systems, as well as manufacturing and public sector applications, complemented by a fourth generation application development language.
The company serves its customers through a network of 38 offices worldwide. Corporate headquarters are located at 555 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City, CA 94065.
