ROSS STORES REPORTS SEPTEMBER SALES NEWARK, Calif., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross Stores, Inc.
(NASDAQ: ROST) today reported sales of $90 million for the five week period ended Oct. 3, 1992, a 27 percent increase above the $71 million in sales for the five weeks ended Oct. 5, 1991. Comparable store sales for the period increased 13 percent from last year.
For the eight months through Oct. 3, 1992, sales were $655 million, an 11 percent increase above the $588 million in sales for the prior year's comparable period ended Oct. 5, 1991. For the eight months, comparable store sales increased 2 percent over the prior year. In commenting on these sales results, Norman A. Ferber, president and chief executive officer, stated, "Our September sales benefited form the later Labor Day and an ongoing above-average trend in our Misses Sportswear and Traditional Men's departments, which are the most important businesses during September and the balance of the year. In addition, sales in our Miami area stores posted exceptionally strong increases during the month compared to last year." Ross Stores, Inc. operates a national chain of off-price retail stores offering first quality, in-season, branded apparel and apparel- related merchandise for the entire family.
