 ROSS 'DRESS FOR LESS' CELEBRATES
 SOLANA BEACH GRAND OPENING
NEWARK, Calif., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross 'Dress For Less' will celebrate the grand opening of its newest store in Solana Beach on Sunday, Nov. 1, the company said today. Two other stores will also open this month in the San Francisco Bay Area and a fourth store in Arlington, Texas, completing the retailers' planned expansion program of 23 new stores for 1992. Ross now has 225 stores in 18 states across the nation.
In commenting on this growth, Norman A. Ferber, president and chief executive officer, stated, "Our new Solana Beach store is part of a major expansion for Ross in the San Diego market. We began the year with four locations there, and opened two new stores in 1992, with another three to four new stores planned for 1993. Our target is ten stores in the San Diego market by the end of next year. We plan to dominate this important trade area for Ross by opening prime fill-in locations, such as our new store in Solana Beach."
This newest Ross 'Dress For Less' store will occupy 30,000 square feet in the former Buffums space at Lomas Santa Fe Plaza. Ross joins Vons Supermarket in the 188,000-square-foot community center which is located on the southeast corner of Interstate 5 and Lomas Santa Fe Drive.
All new stores opening this month and going forward include a new department at Ross called "Home Accents." It features a wide selection of gift items for the home, such as china, crystal, glassware, ceramics, framed art and picture frames, at competitive everyday discounts. Home Accents will be in over 60 Ross locations across the country in early November, and will expand to about 150 stores by the end of 1993.
Ross Stores Inc. (NASDAQ: ROST) generated sales of $930 million in its 1991 fiscal year and will pass the billion dollar mark in fiscal 1992. The off-price retailer offers first quality, in-season, branded apparel and footwear for the entire family at 20 percent to 60 percent less than department and specialty stores.
