ROSARIO TO HEAD TEKTRONIX COMPONENTS CORP.
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK) today announced that it has promoted Binoy A. Rosario to president, Tektronix Components Corporation, effective immediately. He replaces Richard S. Hill, who is leaving the company to accept the position of president and chief executive officer of Novellus Systems, Inc. of San Jose. Rosario, 47, will report to John Karalis, Tektronix vice president of corporate development and chairman of Tektronix Components Corporation. Previously Rosario was general manager for the Tektronix Components Corporation, responsible for day-to-day operations. "Taking the helm at Novellus represents an exciting career opportunity for Rick, and we wish him well. At the same time, we are fortunate to have an executive with Binoy's experience and talents in the semiconductor industry to immediately step into the top role," Karalis said. Rosario joined Tektronix in 1974 and held various positions in integrated circuit design and management until 1984, when he joined the Tektronix venture TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc. as vice president of engineering, responsible for digital and linear products. After rejoining Tektronix in 1989, he held the engineering manager position for test and measurement and was general manager for the Microelectronics division. As an engineer, Binoy pioneered the use of scaled transistor models, grid-based layouts and cell-based designs, all of which promote the rapid development of integrated circuits with high probability of first-time success. Rosario hold both a doctorate and a master of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from The Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India. Tektronix Components Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tektronix, Inc. that was formed earlier this year to combine the integrated circuit and hybrid circuit manufacturing organizations. Tektronix is a leading manufacturer of electronics products in the areas of test and measurement, computer graphics and television systems. Revenues in fiscal 1993 were $1.3 billion. The company is headquartered in Wilsonville, Ore., and has operations worldwide. -0- 11/18/93 /CONTACT: Media, Shelley Potter, 503-685-4086, or analysts, Doug Shafer, 503-685-4111, both of Tektronix/ (TEK)
