 RONALD J. ARNAULT ELECTED TO BROAD INC. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 LOS ANGELES, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Ronald J. Arnault, executive vice president, chief financial officer and a member of the board of directors of ARCO (NYSE: ARC), has been elected a director of Broad Inc. (NYSE: BRO), a leading financial services company with approximately $15 billion of assets owned or under management.
 Arnault, 49, joined Atlantic Richfield in 1969. He was elected a corporate vice president in 1977 and a senior vice president in 1980. Arnault was named ARCO's chief financial officer in 1984, and elected executive vice president and a director in 1987. In his present capacity, he directs ARCO's treasury and corporate services organization and corporate planning and control operations. He is also a director of ARCO Chemical Co.
 He is a member, and former chairman, of the Board of Governors of the Music Center of Los Angeles County. He serves on the boards of trustees of the Brookings Institution and Occidental College. Arnault is also a member of the graduate executive board of The Wharton School and of the president's council, both of the University of Pennsylvania, and a member of the board of directors of The French Foundation for Alzheimer Research.
 He holds a master's degree in business administration from The Wharton School and a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Amherst College.

 The election of Arnault expands the Broad Inc. board to 10 members.
