RON SMITH'S CELEBRITY LOOK-ALIKES COMES TO WASHINGTON
IN SEARCH OF CAP'N CRUNCH CLONE
WHO: Ron Smith, president, world-renowned Ron Smith's
 Celebrity Look-Alikes, the Hollywood-based organization
that conducted searches for Michael Jackson, Prince,
Elvis and Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf; produced a Prince
Charles and Lady Di mock Royal Wedding; and hosted mock
presidential inaugurations and balls for Carter, Reagan
 and Bush.
WHAT: Who's the Real Cap'n? That's what visitors to the
Washington Boat Show will be wondering when Smith
 hosts the first-ever Cap'n Crunch Look-Alike contest,
being conducted in 18 U.S. cities in January and
February. A multitude of colorfully costumed
Cap'n Crunch look-alikes is expected to turn up for the
competition, which is open to the public.
Judging Criteria: Smith, along with a legion of Cap'n
Crunch characters, will judge contestants based on their
physical resemblance to Cap'n Crunch, along with
personality, spirit and pun-ability. Kids and adults
will be asked to don provided Cap'n costumes and compete
for the $500 grand prize. The winner will qualify for
the national Cap'n Crunch Look-Alike contest, to be held
in February in New York City.
WHERE: Washington Boat Show, Washington Convention Center,
 900 Ninth St., N.W., Washington
 WHEN: Thursday, Jan. 16
Registration opens at 1:30 p.m., final judging at 3 p.m.
