RON HOWARD AND BRIAN GRAZER SIGN LONG-TERM PRODUCTION DEAL WITH UNIVERSAL PICTURES

 LONG-TERM PRODUCTION DEAL WITH UNIVERSAL PICTURES
 NEW YORK, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Pictures has entered into a six-year production agreement with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, it was announced today (May 18) by Tom Pollock, chairman of the MCA Motion Picture Group, and Casey Silver, president of production for Universal Pictures.
 The new agreement will be effective upon the expiration of Howard and Grazer's current employment contracts with Imagine Films Entertainment on Nov. 27, 1992. It is anticipated that Howard and Grazer, through their private production company, HG Productions, will produce three motion pictures a year for Universal. Several of the films produced during the term of the agreement will be directed by Howard.
 Howard and Grazer are responsible for the upcoming Universal summer releases "Far and Away," an epic romantic adventure starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, which Howard directed and produced with Grazer; and "Housesitter," a comedy starring Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn, which Grazer produced and Frank Oz directed.
 Other Universal releases from Imagine include "Parenthood," "Kindergarten Cop," "Backdraft," "Problem Child," "Problem Child 2," "The Burbs," "The Dream Team," "Opportunity Knocks" and "Cry Baby." Currently in production are an untitled comedy starring Michael J. Fox, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld; and "Cop and a Half," a comedy starring Burt Reynolds, directed by Henry Winkler.
