ROLLS-ROYCE LAUNCHES NEW BENTLEY MODEL

 ROLLS-ROYCE LAUNCHES NEW BENTLEY MODEL
 LYNDHURST, N.J., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- A new Bentley sporting

sedan was introduced in England today by its manufacturer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
The four-door, five-passenger Bentley Brooklands, priced at $138,500, will be available in North America later this month.
Aimed particularly at successful business people, the new model is expected to considerably broaden the company's customer base. "The Brooklands underscores our strategy of reinforcing our range, market appeal and commitment to the North American market," said Howard Mosher, president and chief executive officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Inc.
"We believe that the extraordinary value built into this largely hand-crafted motor car at a price not much above top-of-the-line mass- produced luxury models will appeal to buyers who are ready to move into a more exclusive realm."
The Brooklands is being launched just as the company is reporting the first signs of recovery since the start of the recession.
Mosher noted that Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has invested nearly $400 million in improving manufacturing efficiency. "This Bentley is the first to be produced under our new advanced systems and team-based philosophy. We have made major changes in the way we develop our products, from concept right through to manufacture and launch."
Named after Britain's famed Brooklands motor racing circuit, the Bentley Brooklands is the third new motor car launched by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in the past 18 months. It follows the Bentley Continental R coupe in March 1991 and the Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II Limousine that made its debut in the United States in January this year.
The Brooklands sedan, its long-wheel-base counterpart, the flagship Continental R coupe, the Turbo R and long-wheel-base Turbo R and the coachbuilt Continental convertible make up the most comprehensive line of Bentley motor cars ever offered in the United States. The prices range from $138,500 to $261,800.
Powered by a hand-built 6.75-liter engine, the Brooklands offers such options as a cocktail cabinet, picnic tables and a voice-activated cellular telephone in addition to a wide range of standard features. Also, the purchaser may choose to have the car delivered in any color he or she desires, whether it is a standard factory offering or not.
