ROLLS-ROYCE LAUNCHES 1994 MODELS: UNVEILS NEW BUSINESS STRATEGY

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today launched its 1994 models in the United States, emphasizing that they are the most powerful and refined Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars ever built.
Introducing the new range, Managing Director Michael Donovan said that in response to the changes in world economics, the company has been radically reshaped, evolving a business strategy designed to perform profitably into the next century.
A key component of the strategy is the introduction of team systems and responsibilities in the manufacturing process to achieve substantial incremental production efficiencies.
Reversing a significant downturn in sales, Donovan said, the company has made a "dramatic turnaround" and now expects to return to profitability by the end of this year.
Howard Mosher, president and chief executive officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in North America, said that more than 70 major engineering changes have been made in the 1994 models. These include a redesigned, higher-powered engine; improved ride characteristics; dual air bags, and a new transmission energy management system.
The new range is led by the Rolls-Royce Silver Spur III which has reclining rear seats and illuminated picnic tables in the rear compartment.
Other 1994 Rolls-Royce models include the Corniche IV convertible and the Silver Spur Limousine.
The Bentley models include the Continental R coup and the Continental convertible, the Turbo R and the Brooklands. The latter two are available in short- and long-wheel-base versions.
Prices range from $147,100 for the Brooklands to $337,100 for the Silver Spur Limousine.
Mosher noted that all models exceed worldwide emissions standards.
