ROLLINS, INC. REPORTS RECORD YEAR AND FOURTH QUARTER RESULTS

ATLANTA, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Rollins, Inc. (NYSE: ROL), nationwide consumer service company, reported record results for the year ended Dec. 31, 1992.
Revenues increased 11.0 percent or $52,111,000 to $527,666,000. Net income increased 20.6 percent or $6,503,000 to $38,002,000, and earnings per share increased 20.2 percent or 18 cents to $1.07. The results for earnings per share reflect the Rollins, Inc. common stock split, three- for-two basis, on Dec. 10, 1992. These record results were also reflected in the fourth quarter. When compared to the same time period last year, revenues, profits and earnings per share increased 10.4 percent to $122,281,000, 19.2 percent to $6,238,000, and 20.0 percent to 18 cents, respectively.
For the year, Orkin attained record results producing strong increases in revenues and operating income, 11.2 percent and 20.0 percent respectively. Operating margins improved to 13.4 percent, compared to 12.4 percent the prior year. The pest control and termite businesses achieved record sales, profits, and customer growth, while exceeding all their financial and operating objectives. In addition, Orkin Plantscaping continues to make progress. The company now holds the number two position in the industry, compared to the number three position last year. Orkin Lawn Care's profits fell short of the company's financial plan; however, the company recorded a sizable turnaround from the prior year. The continuing integration of successful management practices, experienced in the pest control and termite businesses, should help maximize the company's revenue, profit, and customer growth in 1993. Rollins Protective Services increased revenues and operating income by 4.9 percent and 8.9 percent, respectively. The company's results reflect a shift in marketing plans. These are modest improvements compared to 1991. However, with increased commercial revenue and renewed attention to wireless system sales, Rollins Protective Services is well positioned to be successful in 1993.
Gary W. Rollins, company president and chief operating officer, said: "We are proud to report record results for the year ended December 31, 1992. We continue to enjoy benefits from past investments while undertaking new investments for future growth. We are confident and enthusiastic about our future plans, and we are deeply committed to being the nation's best service company. We look forward to another record year in 1993."
Rollins owns and operates Orkin Exterminating Company, Inc. and Rollins Protective Services. Orkin is the world's largest termite and pest control company and also provides lawn care and plantscaping services. Rollins Protective Services is a leader in electronic security systems.
