ROHIT TO THE RHINO'S AID.
INDIA cricketer Rohit Sharma has joined an antipoaching campaign to save the wild animals of Africa as he along with Hollywood actors Matt Le Blanc and Salma Hayek will be involved in taking care of the last surviving Northern White Rhinoceros of the rare species.
"I have been a member of PETA ( People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) and when I was informed about the cause, I thought it is my duty to join the anti- poaching drive. That's what got me to Nairobi. I was fascinated to have a look at Sudaan ( Northern White Rhino) and the sniffer dogs, who catch hold of the poachers," said Rohit.
"I will be donating for this cause as I am so happy to find out what kind of work is being done by Mr Hameed and Mr Yakub to carry on this antipoaching drive," said Rohit.
The stylish India batsman is not the first international cricketer to come to the aid of rhinoceros.
Former England superstar Kevin Pietersen was also pictured alongside a rhino during a conservation drive in South Africa earlier this month.
Former Proteas wicketkeeper Mark Boucher has also lent his support to the cause in his home country.
Boucher got involved in the drive to protect the endangered animal soon after his cricket career was cut short due to an eye injury during the 2012 tour of England.
India's limited- overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been involved in the ' Save the Tigers' campaign for quite some time now. PTI/ India cricketer joins antipoaching drive to save last surviving Northern White Rhino
