ROGERS CORPORATION ANNOUNCES COST REDUCTION ACTIONS AND LOSS FOR 1991
ROGERS, Conn., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Rogers Corporation (AMEX: ROG), announces that in further response to the continuing recession-induced downturn in sales, it is taking a number of additional cost reduction actions. These actions consist of a further reduction of approximately 3 percent of salaried personnel, in addition to product line pruning plus write-offs of various assets.
Norman L. Greenman, president of Rogers Corporation, said, "Full year 1991 results will not be available until mid-February, but the cost reduction actions described above, coupled with low sales in the fourth quarter, are expected to result in an after-tax loss for the year of about $2,250,000. This compares to a $710,000 after-tax profit for the nine months ended September 29, 1991.
"The recession has severely affected sales, particularly in the computer disk drive and automotive markets; and the problems in these industries, plus softness in sales to other customers, have resulted in the need for these additional steps. Rogers' financial position remains strong, and the actions taken will accelerate the return to profitability when the economy improves and sales start moving up," Greenman concluded.
Headquartered in Rogers, Conn., Rogers Corporation is a major manufacturer of electronic interconnection products and polymeric materials and components for the electronics and other selected industrial markets.
