ROGER AILES FOR GOVERNOR? NOT!
NEW YORK, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Roger Ailes, chairman of Ailes Communications, Inc., emphatically dismissed the story that he is interested in running for Governor of New York. In a report published in The New York Post today Fred Dicker quoted New York State Republican Party Chairman Bill Powers as telling him that Ailes was interested in the job. Ailes said that he had briefly joked about it with Bill Powers at a White House Christmas party last week. Ailes said that "Powers told me that there were 21 Republicans who had expressed an interest in running against Cuomo. So I said, why not make it 22?' The Democrats have ruined New York, so whoever the Republicans nominate better stay on offense, kick tail and take names." Ailes went on to say that, "there are at least three solid candidates ahead of me, Al D'Amato, Pat Barrett and Rudy Giuliani. Although I think that Giuliani will be the next Mayor of New York City. But I do think I could beat Leona Helmsley if I ran." More than a year ago Ailes announced his retirement from the world of politics to focus on the corporate and entertainment sides of his business. He is executive producer of Rush Limbaugh: The Television Show, as well as a consultant to Paramount Domestic Television and numerous corporations and executives. His office said today that he has not returned to politics and has no plans to do so. However, Ailes did admit that Arnold Schwarzenegger leaving his post as physical fitness czar, he would accept that post in the Clinton Administration, if asked. -0- 12/21/92 /CONTACT: Judy Laterza of Ailes Communications, 212-685-8400/
