ROCKWELL WABCO VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEMS NAMES LEONARD C. BUCKMAN
 PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER
TROY, Mich., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Rockwell WABCO Vehicle Control Systems has announced the promotion of Leonard C. Buckman to president and general manager.
"Len's strong background in brake systems, including ABS, will further enhance our continued progress and increasing customer acceptance of Rockwell WABCO's products," said Ronald L. Roudebush, president of Rockwell Automotive and chairman of the joint venture's partnership committee.
"Under his leadership, we expect the venture to be well-positioned to satisfy the market's growing demand for advanced brake systems products," he added.
Since 1989, Buckman has served as Rockwell WABCO's vice president of sales and marketing. Prior to that, he held the position of vice president of On-Highway brake products and vice president of product management.
Before joining Rockwell in 1977 as chief engineer for brake design engineering, Buckman held various engineering and management positions with both General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co.
Buckman earned a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from Michigan Technological University and has performed post-graduate work in mechanical engineering at Wayne State University and the University of Michigan.
Buckman succeeds Larry Van Horn, who resigned from the venture to pursue other business interests.
Rockwell WABCO, a joint venture of Rockwell International Corporation's (NYSE: ROK) Automotive business and American Standard Inc.'s WABCO Automotive Products Group, was formed in 1990 to supply vehicle control systems -- including truck, tractor, bus and trailer anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and other conventional braking systems -- to the North American market.
Rockwell International is a multi-industry company applying advanced technology to a wide range of products in its electronics, aerospace, automotive and graphics businesses.
