ROCKWELL SPACE DIVISION HONORS NINE COMPANIES FOR EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE ON SHUTTLE PROGRAM

 DOWNEY, Calif., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Rockwell International Corp.'s (NYSE: ROK) Space Systems Division (SSD) has honored nine companies as recipients of its Exceptional Company Performance Award for 1992.
 The award is presented annually by Rockwell to recognize subcontractors and suppliers for consistent outstanding performance in providing the products and services necessary to produce and support the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Space Shuttle orbiter fleet, for which Rockwell SSD is prime contractor.
 Recipients were selected from among Rockwell SSD's national network of approximately 3,700 shuttle subcontractors and suppliers. Selection criteria included product quality, technical performance and schedule and cost compliance.
 Rockwell SSD President Robert G. Minor praised the honorees for a job well done. "These firms have distinguished themselves through their exceptional product quality, excellence in technical and cost performance and ability to meet challenging schedules," he said. "We at Rockwell are proud to call them our teammates, as together we continue to strive to provide NASA with the world's finest manned spacecraft."
 The 1992 winners and their corresponding categories are as follows:
 -- Corning Inc. Advanced Products, Canton, N.Y. (Orbiter Environmental Control and Life Support Systems/Propulsion/Hydraulic Systems);
 -- D P Associates Inc., Huntsville, Ala. (Payloads/Integration);
 -- Forrest Machining Inc., Valencia, Calif. (Outside Production);
 -- Honeywell Inc. Space Systems Group, Clearwater, Fla. (Orbiter Avionics Systems);
 -- IBM Corp. Federal Systems Co., Owego, N.Y. (Orbiter Major Systems);
 -- Interleaf Inc., El Segundo, Calif. (Division Services);
 -- Michelin Aircraft Tire Corp., Charlotte, N.C. (Orbiter Mechanical/Landing/Crew Systems);
 -- Santa Cruz Construction Inc., Merritt Island, Fla. (Facilities/Capital Equipment and Systems); and
 -- Symetrics Inc., Newbury Park, Calif. (Orbiter Hardware/Equipment).
 In addition to being NASA's prime contractor for the Space Shuttle orbiters, Rockwell SSD is also involved in the design, development, production and integration of other manned and unmanned space vehicles and supporting hardware for NASA and the Department of Defense.
