ROCKWELL AUTOMOTIVE NAMES CALDER EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
AUTOMOTIVE BODY & CHASSIS SYSTEMS; REBONE TO RETIRE
TROY, Mich., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert A. Calder has been appointed executive vice president - Automotive Body & Chassis Systems (AB&CS) for Rockwell International Corporation's Automotive business.
The announcement was made by Rockwell Automotive President Ronald L. Roudebush in conjunction with AB&CS President William F. Rebone's announcement of his retirement at the end of 1994. "This change will afford us an orderly transition of management in a very important sector of our business," stated Roudebush.
In this newly created position, Calder will be responsible for operational management of all AB&CS business units, including Plastic Products, Rockwell International Suspension Systems Company, Fumagalli, a steel wheel manufacturer, and Automotive Body Systems.
Effective immediately, Rebone will focus on strategic actions impacting the long-term direction of Rockwell's Automotive business, including new venture analysis, acquisition strategy and the evaluation of additional growth opportunities in Europe, North America and the Far East.
Previously, Calder had been vice president and general manager of Automotive Body Systems (ABS) since 1987, when ABS was formed through a consolidation of Body Components - Europe and Body Components - North America. Calder joined Rockwell in 1985 as general manager for the former Body Components - Europe business unit. In 1986 he was named vice president and general manager for that organization.
Prior to joining Rockwell, Calder was managing director for International Harvester-Great Britain since 1982. He began his business career with International Harvester in 1958 as a design and product engineer in Hamilton, Ontario. He was promoted to chief engineer in 1968, and, in 1980, to vice president and general manager - Construction Equipment Group for Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Calder graduated from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, in 1959 with a bachelor of science degree in engineering physics. In 1974, he received a master of business administration degree from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario.
Rockwell International (NYSE: ROK), headquartered in Seal Beach, Calif., is a multi-industry company applying advanced technology to a wide range of products in its electronics, aerospace, automotive and graphics businesses.
