ROBINSON APPOINTED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL COUNSEL OF THE PROMUS COMPANIES

 MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Promus Companies Incorporated (NYSE: PRI) today announced that E.O. (Ed) Robinson Jr. has been appointed senior vice president and general counsel for the company. He will have full responsibility for directing the company's legal affairs and will report to Chairman and CEO, Michael D. Rose.
 Robinson joined the company's predecessor organization in 1976 as senior
counsel to the international division of Holiday Inns, Inc. He then served as corporate/development attorney and associate general counsel -- corporate finance and asset management before assuming his current position as secretary and vice president in 1988. Prior to joining the company, Robinson was associated with the law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York City.
 Robinson holds a juris doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce and a bachelors degree in business from the University of California at Berkeley.
 Robinson succeeds Craig Norville, who is retiring from Promus to establish his own law practice. Norville will remain on retainer as a legal consultant.
 Promus is the parent company of these leading brands in the casino and hotel industries: Harrah's, Embassy Suites hotels, Hampton Inn hotels and Homewood Suites hotels.
