ROBERTSON STEPHENS ESTABLISHES NEW VALUE-ORIENTED MUTUAL FUND
SAN FRANCISCO, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Robertson, Stephens & Co. today introduced its new Robertson Stephens Value Plus Fund, a no-load mutual fund targeting undervalued companies of small-to-medium market cap with unique growth prospects. The new fund will open for investment May 12, 1992, and represents the second in a family of mutual funds offered by the Robertson Stephens Investment Trust.
The Value Plus Fund is designed for capital appreciation with an emphasis on above-average returns with below-market risk. The fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing primarily in securities of small- and medium-sized companies with favorable growth potential and modest valuations based on earnings and assets. Often overlooked by Wall Street, these companies represent good investment opportunities.
The Value Plus Fund will be managed by 39-year-old Ron Elijah, a veteran Wall Street research analyst and portfolio manager. Elijah, a former partner with Robertson, Stephens & Co., joined the firm in 1985 as a securities analyst, covering the technology, business services and environmental industries. He left Robertson, Stephens & Co. in 1990 to join Water Street Capital Inc., where he was a research analyst and portfolio manager.
The partners and employees of Robertson, Stephens & Co. have provided the fund's initial investment of more than $3.5 million. On May 12, 1992, shares can be purchased with any size initial investment. For a prospectus or other information about the Robertson Stephens Value Plus Fund including charges and expenses, call Robertson, Stephens & Co., the distributor, at 800-766-FUND.
Investors are urged to read the prospectus carefully before they invest. A registration statement relating to these securities has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission and will become effective May 12, 1992. These securities may not be sold nor may offers to buy be accepted until the registration statement becomes effective.
Robertson, Stephens & Co. is a San Francisco-based investment firm specializing in venture capital and emerging growth companies.
