It is with profound sadness that we report the passing of our friend and chairman, Robert K. Stern, and join with his many friends and acquaintances in expressing condolences to his family. Bob died suddenly and unexpectedly of natural causes at his home in East Greenwich, R.I., Sunday morning.
Bob, known throughout his long and varied business career as a man of vision, energy and uncompromising standards of excellence, also had a legendary affinity for people and leaves behind an extraordinary record of helping others from all walks of life.
One of the pioneers of the computer industry, Bob was instrumental in the founding of more than a dozen companies. His involvement in the gaming industry can be traced back to the 1970s when he founded GTECH Corporation, as well as its predecessor company, and was chairman of GTECH for over seven years.
