ROBERT HALF INTERNATIONAL INC. REPORTS 169 PERCENT INCREASE IN THIRD QUARTER EARNINGS

MENLO PARK, Calif., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE: RHI) today reported revenues and earnings for the third quarter and nine months ended Sept. 30, 1993.
For the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 1993, net income was $3,091,000, or $.24 per share, on revenues of $77,061,000. Net income during this period was reduced by $167,000, or $.01 per share, for the 1 percent increase in federal income tax rates adopted during the quarter retroactive to Jan. 1, 1993. Net income for the prior year's third quarter was $1,147,000, or $.10 per share, on revenues of $55,052,000.
For the nine months ended Sept. 30, 1993, net income was $8,378,000, or $.67 per share, on revenues of $219,080,000. For the nine months ended Sept. 30, 1992, net income was $3,105,000, or $.26 per share, on revenues of $161,151,000.
Harold M. Messmer, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of the company, stated: "The strong revenue and earnings comparisons for the third quarter reflect continuing improvement in the demand for the company's specialized personnel services. Accountemps division revenues attained new record levels while Robert Half division revenues grew at a modest pace compared to the same period last year.
"During the quarter, the company continued to benefit from its cost containment measures as the percentage of selling, general and administrative expenses relative to revenues continued to decline to all-time low levels," Messmer said.
He added that the company's OfficeTeam(R) division, which provides highly skilled office and administrative professionals, continued to perform well during the third quarter. The company plans to continue expansion of this service, which was established in 1991.
The company also announced the acquisition of a franchised office located in Wilmington, Del.
Founded in 1948, Robert Half International Inc. provides specialized staffing services through such divisions as Accountemps(R), Robert Half(R) and OfficeTeam. Accountemps and Robert Half are the world's leading temporary and permanent placement services, respectively, in the fields of accounting, finance and information systems. OfficeTeam specializes in highly skilled office and administrative personnel. The company has more than 150 offices worldwide.
