 ROBERT GUTKOWSKI NAMED PRESIDENT OF MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
 NEW YORK, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert M. Gutkowski has been named president and chief executive officer of Madison Square Garden, part of the entertainment operations of Paramount Communications Inc. (NYSE: PCI). The announcement was made jointly today by Paramount Communications' Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Martin S. Davis and President and Chief Operating Officer Stanley R. Jaffe.
 Gutkowski, who had been president of Madison Square Garden Communications and Entertainment, will assume his new duties immediately and will report to Jaffe.
 Davis said that, "The promotion of Bob Gutkowski to head Madison Square Garden exemplifies the depth of management talent throughout the Paramount organization. We have made a significant commitment to the newly renovated Garden and The Paramount and we are confident that Bob is the executive who can and will achieve our goals."

"Bob's record of success in nine years with Paramount Communications makes him singularly qualified to direct the operations of the world's most famous and important sports and entertainment complex.

"In his six years at the Garden, he has built a reputation as one of the most dynamic and creative executives in the sports and entertainment industry."
 Gutkowski, 43, joined Paramount Communications in 1983 and has been at Madison Square Garden since 1985.
 "Madison Square Garden has always been a part of my life," Gutkowski said. "To me and to millions of my fellow New Yorkers the Garden is more than a building; it is a living and growing institution that is a quintessential element of New York life."
 Gutkowski will have responsibility for the New York Knickerbocker basketball and New York Rangers hockey teams, MSG Television and Radio Networks, Madison Square Garden Entertainment Group and the operations of the Madison Square Garden arena and the newly opened Paramount Theater.
 Gutkowski's first position at Madison Square Garden was as president of Madison Square Garden Network, which, under his direction, has grown into the nation's largest regional cable network with 4.6 million households in three states. MSG cablecasts and Knicks basketball, Rangers hockey and Yankees baseball games. He also served as executive in charge of boxing at Madison Square Garden.
 In August 1991, Gutkowski assumed additional responsibilities as president of Madison Square Garden Entertainment, the division which promotes and presents concerts, college basketball, tennis, ice shows and other attractions at Madison Square Garden, The Paramount and other venues around the country.
 He joined Paramount in 1983 as vice president, advertiser sales for Paramount Pictures Domestic Television Distribution. Prior to that he was vice president of programming at ESPN from 1981 to 1983. He was also director of sports sales for NBC Television.
 A native of Manhattan, Gutkowski earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Hofstra University.
