    ROBERT F. W. VAN OORDT ELECTED TO SCHERING-PLOUGH BOARD OF DIRECTORS
    MADISON, N.J., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert F. W. van Oordt, president and chief executive officer of Buhrmann-Tetterode NV, the Netherlands, has been elected to the board of directors of Schering-Plough Corporation (NYSE: SGP).
    Van Oordt joined Buhrmann-Tetterode NV, the holding company of the Buhrmann-Tetterode Group, in 1989 as a member of the board of managing directors, and was appointed to his present position in 1990.  Buhrmann- Tetterode is a worldwide industrial group engaged in the distribution of graphic and business systems, graphic paper and office products, and the manufacturing and marketing of packaging products.
    Previously, in 1979, he was appointed executive vice president and a member of the office of the president of the Hunter Douglas Group, a Netherlands-based organization engaged in window covering, renovation and building products, metals trading and precision machinery.  In 1980, he was elected to the board of directors of Hunter Douglas NV, the parent company of the Hunter Douglas Group.  In 1986, he was appointed to the additional position of chief operating officer of the Group.
    From 1971 to 1979, van Oordt was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company Inc., serving a wide range of clients through the firm's offices in Chicago, Toronto and Amsterdam.  In 1974, he was elected a partner and member of the management group of McKinsey.  At McKinsey, he concentrated on assignments for international industrial corporations in areas of strategy, marketing and organizational development.
    Van Oordt serves as chairman of the supervisory board of the Dutch Cable Works (NKF) and as a member of the supervisory board of the Swiss Bank Corporation Investment Banking NV (SBCI), both in the Netherlands. He is also a member of the Council of International Advisers of the Swiss Bank Corporation (SBC) in Basel, Switzerland.  In addition, van Oordt is Honorary Consul General for Finland in the Netherlands.
    He received his doctoral degree in economics from the University of Amsterdam.  He resides in the Netherlands with his wife and three children.
