ROBERT E. MCKEE/JACOBS ENGINEERING RECEIVES EXCELLENT SAFETY RECORD AWARD

 PASADENA, Calif., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that its subsidiary, Robert E. McKee Inc., received an Excellent Safety Record Award on the Metro Green Line project for Rail Construction Corp. (RCC).
 The RCC is the builder of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's 400-mile rail transit system.
 McKee was selected for this special recognition because the construction crew completed one full year, 70,000 manhours of work, without a single accident on this $20 million project.
 Ed McSpedon, president/chief executive officer of the RCC stated that "This performance record illustrates that safety does not have to be compromised to build a metro rail construction project on time and within budget. We are truly pleased to represent this contractor as the model for excellence in the industry."
 Arlan Emmert, Jacobs senior vice president of Safety, stated that "Safe working habits are a condition of employment at Jacobs. Safety is good business, however, it is also the moral obligation of the company and each individual to ensure a safe working environment. As long as our employees continue to take responsibility for their own safety and that of their fellow employees, we will achieve successes like this."
 McKee is currently responsible for constructing the yard and shops facility that will service the Metro Green Line which will start service in November 1994. The Green Line is the 20-mile light rail system that will travel along the median of the I-105 Glenn Anderson Freeway now under construction from Norwalk to the Los Angeles Airport area turning southward to the aerospace employment center in El Segundo, Calif. Work currently being performed includes construction of a rail vehicle storage area and a rail car maintenance and car wash facility.
