ROBERT C. SLEDD ELECTED CHAIRMAN AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER; C. MICHAEL GRAY ELECTED PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER; OTHER EXECUTIVE PROMOTIONS ANNOUNCED.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 1995--Performance Food Group Company (Nasdaq/NM:PFGC) today announced managerial promotions effective immediately, including the election of Robert C. Sledd, age 42, as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and C. Michael Gray, age 45, as President and Chief Operating Officer.

Sledd has served as President and Chief Executive Officer and a director of Performance Food Group Company since 1987. His promotion to Chairman fills the position left vacant as a result of the death of Kenneth O. Lester in December 1994.

Gray has served as a director of the Company since 1992 and as President of the Company's Pocahontas Foods, USA subsidiary since 1981. He has been employed by Pocahontas since 1975, serving as Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing. His experience prior to joining Pocahontas included three years with the Kroger Company. Gray will continue to manage the Pocahontas operations, but his responsibilities will be expanded to cover the Company's broadline distribution area.

Two other personnel changes announced today included naming Jerry J. Caro, age 52, as Founding Chairman and electing Thomas Hoffman, age 55, to the newly established position of Senior Vice President responsible for the Company's customized distribution operations which supply the foodservice needs of multi-unit, chain restaurants such as Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores and Outback Steakhouse. Hoffman will continue to serve as President of the Company's Kenneth O. Lester subsidiary, a position he has held since 1989. Caro has served as Vice Chairman since 1988. He will continue to serve as a director and as Senior Vice President responsible for the Company's produce and processing operations.

Hoffman's background includes more than 30 years in the foodservice industry. Prior to joining Performance Food Group Company in 1989, Hoffman was a Vice President of Booth Fisheries Corporation, a subsidiary of Sara Lee Corporation, responsible for that company's Western Distribution Operations. He previously served as General Manager of C.F.S. Continental, Miami and as President of International Foodservice Miami, Inc., two broadline foodservice distributors.

Performance Food Group markets a wide variety of food and food-related products to restaurants, hotels, cafeterias, schools, hospitals and other businesses and institutions, primarily in the southern and midwestern United States.
