 ROBERT BECK NAMED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, HUMAN RESOURCES
 ABBOTT PARK, Ill., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert N. Beck was elected senior vice president, human resources by the board of directors of Abbott Laboratories at its meeting Feb. 14.
 Beck, previously executive vice president, human resources, Bank of America, will join Abbott March 1. He will report to Duane L. Burnham, chairman and chief executive officer. Beck, 51, will succeed O. Ralph Edwards, who is retiring after 16 years with Abbott.
 Beck holds a B.S. degree in business management and an M.S. degree in behavioral science and industrial relations, both from San Diego State University.
 Abbott Laboratories is a worldwide manufacturer of health care products employing some 46,000 people. In 1992, the company's sales and net earnings were $6.9 billion and $1.1 billion, respectively, with earnings per share of $2.55.
