ROBERT B. PALMER ANNOUNCES PLANS TO RETIRE FROM CORESTATES

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- CoreStates Financial Corp (NASDAQ: CSFN) today announced that Robert B. Palmer, chief retail services officer since 1991 and a 29-year veteran of the banking organization, has decided to retire in January 1995.
Chairman Terrence A. Larsen said that in connection with that decision Rosemarie B. Greco, president and chief executive officer of CoreStates' lead retail banking subsidiary, First Pennsylvania Bank, has assumed a number of responsibilities at the corporate level over the last year and will assume the added title of chief retail services officer as of Oct. 1.
"The work Bob and Rosemarie have done together over the last two and a half years has given CoreStates a united, strong and successful retail banking team leading this business which is vital to CoreStates, and Rosemarie is highly qualified to lead the team going forward," Larsen said. "The change of titles is part of an orderly management evolution."
Palmer will remain as chairman of First Pennsylvania, a title he also has held since 1991, and will continue to oversee the corporation's public responsibility program until his retirement.
He is a director of VISA, U.S.A.
Palmer's numerous civic involvements include directorships of the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. He is chairman of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia and of the Advisory Committee of the Settlement Music School. He is a trustee of Hahnemann University and serves on the advisory committee of Womens Way.
