Byline: The Register-Guard

Here's a look at major road construction this week around the region. Weather conditions may cause delays.

Eugene-Springfield Area

Garden Way: Closed between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Commons Drive to all through traffic beginning Wednesday for an extended period. Only local residential traffic and patients of the chiropractic and sports medicine clinic will be allowed access. Other traffic should use alternate north-south routes such as Coburg Road or Pioneer Parkway.

Silver Lane and River Avenue: Night paving activity during the week. Work is expected to occur from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Gilham Road, Belt Line to Cal Young roads, and Cal Young, Coburg to Willagillespie roads: Paving overlay work begins Monday, starting at Willagillespie and moving toward Coburg Road. Once paving begins, a single lane will be maintained for two-way traffic.

West 11th Avenue at Polk Street: Traffic signal will be down most of the day Tuesday for repairs. Eugene police will direct traffic instead.

Springfield Area

Jasper Road Extension: Work continues on widening the intersection of Highway 126 and Main Street this week, with construction on the center median of Highway 126 north of Main Street. Pedestrians should cross only at the signalized intersection on Main Street. Installation of curbs, drainage facilities and sidewalks will continue between Main Street and Glacier Drive. Traffic continues to use the detour on South 57th and 58th streets, with excavation of the old roadway from Daisy Street to Glacier Drive underway, as well as construction of a new entrance into the Emerald Isle Mobile Home Park. Expect five- to 10-minute delays in the area from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and use other routes if possible.

Florence Area

Clear Lake Road: Excavation work and fill continues on road-widening project between Canary Road and Jensen Lane. Expect 10- to 15-minute delays.
