RKK SIGNS TEAMING AGREEMENT WITH CHEMICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT
BELLEVUE, Wash., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- RKK Ltd., a Bellevue environmental technology company, announced today a Teaming Agreement with Chemical Waste Management Inc. (NYSE: CHW) (CWM) for exclusive use of RKK's ice technology at several government and commercial sites to contain and isolate toxic waste.
According to retired Army Lt. Gen. Calvin A.H. Waller, RKK chief operating officer and executive vice president, "RKK's primary technology, CRYOCELL(TM), traps radioactive and chemical contaminants inside an underground V-shaped ice barrier, preventing the waste from migrating to untainted ground or leaking into groundwater. The barriers are formed by sinking a network of refrigerant-filled pipes into the ground around the hazardous waste to be contained. The size of the enclosure can vary from one to 100 acres and can reach a depth of 2,000 feet with a frozen soil wall thickness of up to 75 feet. The 30-year cost of a CRYOCELL containment is estimated to be less than 1 percent of the annual cleanup budget for a given site."
Waller noted that the Teaming Agreement with CWM, the premier hazardous waste management services company in North America, combined with a previously announced agreement with Freeze Wall Inc., provides the company's customers with a unique ability to contain and immobilize toxic waste. Freeze Wall specializes in ground-freezing to stabilize soil during construction.
