RINGLING BROS. AND BARNUM & BAILEY CIRCUS HOSTS THANKSGIVING DAY FEAST FOR NEW MONGOLIAN STARS

RINGLING BROS. AND BARNUM & BAILEY CIRCUS HOSTS THANKSGIVING DAY
 FEAST FOR NEW MONGOLIAN STARS
VENICE, Fla., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Arriving in this country only days ago, 40 performing artists from the faraway land of Mongolia will get their first "taste" of America this Thursday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m., when they sit down to a traditional Thanksgiving Day feast here at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus' Winter Quarters.
Rehearsing for their first appearance ever in the United States, the Mongolians are a featured attraction of the all-new 122nd edition of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus premiering on Dec. 27. Their headliner role in the 1992 production represents a major diplomatic coup for circus impresario Kenneth Feld, who negotiated the U.S. debut of the troupe with the Mongolian government.
Joining the Mongolians for a mini United Nations Thanksgiving Day spread will be the rest of the international cast of The Greatest Show on Earth, including citizens from The People's Republic of China, South America, the Philippines, and of course, the United States. An expected 250 members of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus family are planning to dine together within the three rings of the circus' arena floor. A traditional menu of stuffed turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce will certainly be exotic fare for this group of modern-day pilgrims.
"We are so thankful to be here and take part in this great American holiday," said Mongolian performer Kadyr Khan, a direct descendant of the legendary ruler Genghis Khan. "We are looking forward to experiencing more of life in America during our two-year tour."
Tickets for the Venice engagement (Dec. 27-31) of the all-new 122nd edition of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus are on sale now at the Circus' arena box office and all Ticketmaster locations, including Dillard's, Spec's Music and Turtle's Record stores. Tickets may also be charged by phone -- 813-483-5145. Following the Venice debut, The Greatest Show on Earth will travel to St. Petersburg (Jan. 2-6) and Tampa (Jan. 8-12), then continue forth on its two-year national tour.

/NOTE TO EDITORS: -- PHOTO OP ALERT -- On Wednesday, Nov. 27, at noon, the Mongolians will be in the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus kitchen with circus chef, Michael Duncan, for a culinary lesson on preparing the perfect Thanksgiving Day supper. The finer points of Turkey stuffing, concocting the perfect gravy and creating creamy (not lumpy) mashed potatoes will be covered./
