RINGDALE IP ROUTER SUPPORTS LAN-TO-LAN CONNECTIONS.

Ringdale, Inc., the distribution brand of Network Technology PLC (London: NTY), has introduced the Ringdale IP Router, a $499 device designed to ensure greater control and smoother operation of an Ethernet network and enhance the efficiency of LAN communication within workgroups.

Unlike other IP routers that provide communication between LANs, WANs and the Internet, the Ringdale IP Router is designed specifically for LAN to LAN connections. This allows networks to be divided into more manageable network segments, thus reducing the volume of overall network traffic. Ringdale's IP Router accomplishes that task by transferring data within a defined network group. The device is ideal for companies with busy workgroups that rarely exchange data outside the immediate group, but still require some access to the rest of the network.

"The Ringdale IP Router presents a unique, yet simple, solution to improving communication over a LAN within a workgroup," said Tom Johnson, general manager of Ringdale, Inc. "This low-cost solution acts as a traffic controller to load-balance traffic and alleviate congestion, resulting in significantly improved performance over busy local area networks."

While the Ringdale IP Router enables IP packets to be sent across the LAN, it also works with existing WAN and Internet devices via TCP/IP. This enables communication between two local area networks in the same building to ensure the routing stability of networks and ensure that network traffic is directed to the intended user only.

Ringdale, Inc., a Network Technology PLC company, is a supplier of routers, network management software, network interface cards, external printservers, hubs, including stackable and managed hubs, and data storage systems. The company also supplies plotters, scanners and paper finishing products for the computer-aided design and reprographics markets. Ringdale sells and supports its products in North America through a network of authorized resellers.
